About the Artist
I have been creating things most of my life. I started working with glass back in junior high, weaving bead bracelets on a small loom and making rosaries with wire and beads. Since that time I have become proficient with a wide variety of art and craft forms.
Back in the 1990’s I moved from quilting to crazy quilting where I rediscovered beads. I started stringing jewelry and making items with beadweaving techniques. I was introduced to lampworking and became fascinated with shaping and creating with melted glass. I had the opportunity to experiment with glass fusing about three and a half years ago. It captured my attention and I wanted to explore more techniques. I have been working with many kinds of glass and have created art ranging from half inch earrings to 18 inch sinks using ¾ inch thick glass.
Two years ago I was able to quit my day job and leave the world of accounting to devote my time to creating with glass. Working my joy has been an exciting opportunity for me to explore and create. I have been fortunate to learn a large variety of techniques from many different teachers at Hot Glass Horizons and Glass Craft Expo. I have taken workshops from Kathleen Sheard, Patty Gray, Michael Dupille, Shirley Webster, Jayne Persico, Deb Van Tol, Peter McGrain, Jim Gregory, Janet Schrader, and Petra Kaiser. The hours I have spent learning only creates the desire to learn more and to share this excitement with others. I have been teaching beginning fusing classes for the past two years.
I have a studio in the Hot Shops Art Center where I can create and teach. I have had my work exhibited at The Nicholas Street Gallery.
